Beyer Blinder Belle has been working with Amherst College on the development of a campus-wide framework plan initiated in 2013. The all-encompassing campus plan is designed to serve as a flexible, living document that can adapt to evolving priorities and ongoing projects while abiding by strong and clear principles.

Responding to the academic and capital priorities established by the administration and the Trustees, the plan provides immediate direction for projects in development while coherently linking individual actions into an overarching vision for the future of the campus, including how the physical design of the campus serves the College’s new strategic plan.

As part of the larger framework plan, the Amherst Board of Trustees recently approved the East Campus Framework Plan, the first campus neighborhood to undergo development. Designed by BBB in collaboration with Michael van Valkenburgh and Payette Associates, the East Campus will include a new Science Center, student dorms and open space, all integrated into the historic campus by a landscaped greenway.
