Lincoln Center Promenade

BBB's work on the Lincoln Center Promenade creates a vibrant, new cultural corridor that better connects the Performing Arts Center with the surrounding cityscape.

BBB has been working with Lincoln Center for over a decade, beginning with a revitalization plan to prepare the world-renowned performing arts center for the 21st century. The centerpiece of the Lincoln Center campus is the Promenade, for which BBB served as the Executive Architect with Diller Scofidio + Renfro. Consisting of the public open spaces surrounded by the multiple performing arts venues, the project enhances the visitor experience and encourages interaction among artists, students, and the public. The Josie Robertson Plaza is the focal point, and includes new pavement and landscape features, integrated information technologies, a glass and travertine material palette, and a reconfigured vehicular and pedestrian approach. BBB worked closely with Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Wet Design to transform the fountain itself into a more dynamic feature, with the addition of new lighting, improved seating, waterproofing, and other technical upgrades.
