230 Park Avenue

BBB's upgrades to the landmark Beaux-Arts lobby of 230 Park Avenue brings 21st century functionality into a magnificent early 20th century space.

230 Park Avenue, "The Crown Jewel of Park Avenue" and the former headquarters of the New York Central Railroad, is a New York City exterior and interior landmark originally designed by Warren and Wetmore in 1929. As a part of a series of upgrades to the building, BBB was engaged to restore the historic finishes and update security and visitor services infrastructure to meet the needs of a contemporary office building lobby. Specific areas of work included designing a complementary new security desk at the building's north entrance; converting an existing newsstand at the south entrance for guest services; overseeing the development of custom bronze artwork for the grand lobby's historic directory frames; creating a building history display for a secondary passageway; and developing a comprehensive signage proposal. All elements of work were within or immediately adjacent to landmark-designated spaces, and all materials and details were selected in consideration of the original design.
