Duplex at 24 Gramercy Park South

BBB's design for a sophisticated Manhattan residence combines classic materials with modern interpretive details.

In converting a 4-bedroom, 3-bath duplex overlooking Gramercy Park, BBB was tasked with designing a home that would satisfy the client's preference for urban, loft-like living. In order to achieve this goal, the existing space required a complete re-composition, which included removing the barriers between numerous small rooms and opening up the space to the site's beautiful views and abundant natural light. A mix of upholstered contemporary furniture in neutral colors combined with museum-quality, repurposed antiques supports an eclectic interior design concept. Sustainable materials, such as recycled oak plank flooring in a smokey-beige tone, serve as a subtle backdrop for the crisp details of the blackened hand-forged stair, glazed doors, and custom metal furniture pieces.
