BBB's restoration of a historic Polo Stable on Long Island enables the building to function as a modern equestrian center for many generations to come.
The Caumsett Polo Stable is located on the former Long Island estate of Marshall Field III, now known as Caumsett State Park. Designed by John Russell Pope in the manner of Christopher Wren, the Stable stands in the heart of the state park as a center for horseback riding classes, equestrian events, and boarding. The Caumsett Foundation engaged BBB to perform an exterior restoration of the building, beginning with a conditions assessment and a subsequent restoration of brick and stone masonry, wood windows, doors and trim, metal roofing, and ornamental ironwork. The stable has 16 stalls, a carriage room, harness rooms, two residential wings for the head groom and staff, and an extensive hay loft.
