Fourth Street Live!

BBB's design for Fourth Street Live! turns an antiquated enclosed mall into a vibrant, open-air entertainment district.

Fourth Street Live! is an entertainment and retail district located on 4th Street between Liberty and Muhammad Ali Boulevards in downtown Louisville. The center occupies two city blocks, featuring restaurants, nightclubs, and retail shops. With its concentration of daytime, nighttime, and weekend uses, it is both a destination for the region as well as an integrated feature within the downtown pedestrian and vehicular fabric. At the heart of the project is the skylit Galleria structure, a public, semi-enclosed plaza with a flexible design that is suitable for street fairs, festivals, performances, and celebrations. The massing of the façades and the graphics on the street throughout the district reflect a contemporary urban environment, accommodating the need for individual tenants' branding and identities while maintaining an overall unified urban character.
