HEX is a 60-story, 660-foot-high residential tower anchoring the pivotal northwest corner of Jersey City’s Hudson Exchange redevelopment, where it will connect to the city’s future Embankment greenway and houses replacement space for the neighborhood’s existing full-service grocery. The podium conceals a five-story parking garage with 538 spaces behind an elegant, perforated metal screen that creates a dynamic play of texture and light. Atop the podium, an extensive sixth-floor amenity level connects indoors and outdoors by interweaving a one-story amenity pavilion amongst a comprehensive suite of landscaped spaces for leisure, entertainment, productivity, health and wellness. The tower is designed for transparency and lightness, with a glass-and-aluminum slab-to-slab bypass window wall system; abundant, vertically grouped windows; and slightly staggered floor plates creating unobstructed “corner” views for many units.
HEX is the second phase of BBB’s master plan for Hudson Exchange, which is transforming an 18-acre superblock site of big-box retail and surface parking lots into a sustainable, walkable, transit-adjacent, mixed-use community with 5,400 residential units and more than 350,000 square feet of street-level retail.
