The Embassy of Ireland in the United States resides at 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in downtown Washington, DC, just one block from the White House. The design of the Embassy expresses the modern relationship between the two countries, incorporating traditional materials such as bronze, wood, and wool in new, innovative, and contemporary ways. Design features evoke Irish history, art, and literature and express Ireland’s unique culture and geography.
Embassy of Ireland in the United States
Washington, DC

The Embassy of Ireland reflects the importance and longevity of the country’s century-long diplomatic relationship with the United States.

A flexible representational space hosts a variety of public events with dramatic views of DC landmarks, and workspaces enjoy abundant daylight. Throughout, simple materials with historic resonance—wood, bronze, felted wool, leather, even plants—are deployed in unexpected ways, alongside environmental graphics that evoke Irish art, poetry, literature, and design while enhancing privacy and security.
