Kansas City Power & Light District

BBB's design for the Power & Light District has restored life to downtown Kansas City by integrating a livable and walkable neighborhood district into the surrounding urban fabric.

The award-winning Power & Light District is a new mixed-use development that replaces a formerly barren landscape of parking lots and abandoned structures on eight city blocks in Kansas City. Located adjacent to the downtown area and built upon surrounding pedestrian flows, the district serves as a bridge for pedestrians between the new Sprint Center arena and the convention center. Comprised of restaurants, nightclubs, retail totaling 400,000 SF, and 1,200 residential lofts, the district creates a lively and vibrant environment. The majority of the buildings are no taller than two stories, the storefronts are individually articulated, and a covered, multi-level exterior court surrounded by clubs and restaurants functions as a large outdoor performance venue that regularly draws massive crowds to the district.
