A mixed-use building is rising on the site of a 1960's church annex on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
The new 16-story structure will house three floors of community facility space for the adjoining Park Avenue Christian Church and residential apartments above. Located within the Park Avenue Historic District, the sensitive contextual design harmonizes with the architecturally distinguished neighboring historic buildings: the Gothic Revival church, designed by Cram Goodhue & Ferguson in 1911; and the adjacent classic pre-war Park Avenue apartment building designed by Emery Roth in 1915. The new building will be clad in Indiana limestone. The design was approved by the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission in 2015 and construction was completed in 2019.
