92NY Master Plan

BBB’s master plan for an iconic cultural center on Manhattan’s Upper East Side creates a roadmap for expanded programming, improved user experience, and contemporary architectural identity.

92NY produces and hosts an extraordinary range of educational and cultural programming, from fitness to early education, from world-class performing arts to life-long learning. The institution’s aspirations are bounded by the limitations and challenges of their two interconnected buildings dating from 1929 and 1968. BBB’s master plan includes a space needs program for broadening services, as well as multiple scenarios for re-planning the 270,000-SF facility to achieve greater efficiency and flexibility. A vision for a transformed ground floor and lower-level experience addresses accessibility, wayfinding, and security improvements, while creating a contemporary new architectural identity for this important New York City institution.

By evaluating multiple scenarios and their costs and phasing implications, BBB has assisted senior leadership and trustees in facilitating conversations that help determine the best path forward. BBB continues to provide guidance and specificity to the road map.
