Catchlight Crossings

BBB’s comprehensive master plan and architectural design for Catchlight Crossings will create a unique mixed-use community and an innovative solution for Central Florida’s pressing affordable housing needs.
Catchlight Crossings is a first-of-its-kind approach designed to address the shortage of affordable housing in Orlando, FL. Developed by Wendover Housing Partners, as part of the Universal Parks and Resorts "Housing for Tomorrow" initiative to create economically diverse housing options and healthy communities, this redevelopment in the heart of Orlando’s tourist corridor represents an affordable community built to enhance the lifestyle of its residents. As Master Planner and Design Architect, BBB has created an innovative pedestrian-oriented design for a community of 1,000 affordable and mixed-income housing units, a wide range of on-site services including medical offices and tuition-free preschool and 16,000 SF of retail space. A transportation hub for buses, ridesharing, employer shuttles, and bikes improves access to the surrounding region. With a focus on sustainability and high-quality, livable design, Catchlight Crossings includes community-oriented amenities and open spaces that will put residents first. BBB’s master plan creates a new framework for a critical and timely issue, and a model for affordable housing in the future.
