La MaMa Reopens Landmark 74 East 4th Street Theater Building

Actor, director, philanthropist, and educator Andre de Shields—one of the first artists nurtured at La MaMa after its founding in 1961—welcomed hundreds of theater lovers to the newly restored 74 East 4th Street, a designated New York City landmark long associated with the performing arts. Beyer Blinder Belle’s renovation created state-of-the-art performance spaces and amenities for this world-renowned cultural institution, while preserving the building’s cherished historic character.
