Arlington National Cemetery Millennium Project

BBB's expansion of the iconic Arlington National Cemetery allows it to serve future generations without compromise to the character and integrity of the historic site and landscape.

BBB served as lead designer for a project that expands the existing 624 acres at Arlington National Cemetery by 27 acres to the northwest. The site is visited annually by more than 4 million people and hosts up to 30 funerals a day, resulting in over 7,000 burials per year. At this pace, the cemetery was projected to reach capacity by 2025. The expansion allows for the growth of this national memorial and provides 31,000 new burial spaces and structures, extensive stream restoration, landscape design, retaining walls, perimeter fencing, and vehicle and pedestrian access roads and walkways, all carefully designed to honor the site's historic character.
