The master plan for Ridge Hill revitalizes an under-performing retail center by transforming it into an active 18-hour destination with an improved public realm and an expanded mix of uses.
BBB’s master plan calls for portions of the site to be redeveloped for residential, hotel, and office use, and for streetscape improvements to make the area more welcoming and safer for pedestrians. The first phase expands and renovates two important public spaces—Town Square at the center of the complex, and Park Plaza at its north end—to establish infrastructure for the expanded programming that brings visitors to Ridge Hill. The plan also converts a vacant big-box space into a more flexible retail ecosystem by cutting a two-story, open-air “Paseo” into the building, topped by a translucent ETFE canopy, to accommodate a more diverse, sustainable tenant mix. Throughout, all architectural interventions are unified by a contemporary palette of metal and glass that distinguishes new from old and allows the brand identity of each tenant to shine through.
