Kevin Storm

Kevin Storm believes we must proactively address climate change, equity, and livability through innovative design of our cities, neighborhoods, buildings, and spaces. Since first joining Beyer Blinder Belle in 2000, Kevin has pursued creative solutions grounded in open-minded collaboration, empathetic engagement, historic awareness, and civic responsibility.
Kevin has a unique blend of public and private-sector experience. He leads urban design and planning projects for a wide range of clients including the Kennedy Center, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and Indianapolis Museum of Art, as well as the cities of Hyattsville, MD (2018 “Outstanding Plan” award, APA’s National Capital Area Chapter), Washington, DC, Columbus, IN, and Fort Lauderdale, FL, where a long-term planning partnership led to a new generation of Downtown development guidelines and vision for the public realm and riverfront. Kevin guided BBB's first-place submission for the “DC: City of the Future” competition. International experience includes an 18-month stay in Tanzania, designing a new Aga Khan University campus.
As a practicing architect, Kevin also oversees a variety of architectural projects, studies, and assessments, ranging from preservation and adaptive reuse to new construction. These include The Hepburn Multi-family Residences, National Presbyterian Church addition and renovation, and various projects abroad for the U.S. State Department.
In addition to guiding multiple public-sector collaborations for BBB, Kevin served as Urban Design Director for the DC Office of Planning from 2018 to 2021. In this civic role, his purview included the DC Comprehensive Plan’s Urban Design Element, DC’s Design Excellence Program, DC’s Public Space Program, and a partnership with C40 Cities.
Kevin is a graduate of the University of Miami (B.Arch.) and the Harvard Graduate School of Design (M.Arch., Urban Design). He is a registered architect in DC, Virginia, and Maryland and is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners. Kevin has taught at Harvard GSD’s Executive Education Program and is a Lecturer at University of Maryland’s School of Architecture & Planning. He has served on the Board of the American Institute of Architects-DC Chapter since 2017.
